Message man... I really love the gears cause they made a big noticable difference especially on the highway. I was told from a few experts that it could easily hurt me because of the less load I'd have on the turbos. With out a doubt they were wrong and some of them that were givin the chance to check my car out agreed they are awesome. Now, that's with stock turbos and around 400 RWHP. After market turbos might do better with the extra load, or might not. The thing is, there's not many out there with after market turbos and 4.08 gears to testify to this. It's kind of one of those trial and error things. I really think they would help even with the bigger turbos and a 5-speed in over all acceleration. If you're a serious drag racer and can't hit the finish at redline with them then it's a waste. One of the tricks to dragging as we all know is the least amount of shifts and wasted gears. Anotherwords, to finish with the least shifts and at the top of the last shifts powerband (or it was a wasted shift). 1st gear seems to run out really quick with these gears, so I'm going to start launching in 2nd at higher RPMs. I finish @ over 6K in 4th with these gears and 15" rims with 225 BFGs. They are perfect for me with the small tires. If I get my 2nd gear launch down, I'll only have 3 shifts per run. With a new tranny I think I can run a good 12.1 at about 116 due to the 3 shifts and good use of all power bands. With the bigger turbos and obviosly higher MPH in the 1/4, you might have to go with a taller tire and finish a lil over 120 MPH in 4th at redline. You can't tell for sure without a lot of calculations... and... well... trial and error =(. I've had a lot of this. I went out on a limb with these gears because hardly anyone had done it when I was doing it. I had to make like 20 trips to the junk yard for parts that I needed and wouldn't convert over. I went out on a linb with the AFC on stock turbos and injectors. When dyno tuning I was hoping it wasn't a waste cause I didn't many with this setup and swearing by it doing much help. It turned out great. You can listen who should be experienced and know, but in cases like these they're going off of theory or their limited experience in a particular setup. It really comes down to you don't know till you try for sure =(
